September 29, 2004: The Ghosts of WYSIWYGs past

Okay, I'm a doof. I didn't even KNOW that we had pics up here on the site from the "Bullies and Mean Girls" show! We gotta mention that stuff on the blog, I guess. Anyway, here they are!

I also didn't know that Manhattan Neighborhood Network videotaped the IMHO Panel. What?! If you get Time Warner (and, presumably, live in Manhattan), you can catch it on channel 34 on Tuesday, October 5 at 6pm and Sunday, October 10 at 11pm.

September 29, 2004: Psychos

Hey, have you looked at the front page of our site lately? If you haven't, you might not know that we've announced the line-up for the October 20 show, "Psychos I Have Dated or Worked for... or Both"! Featuring the extreme sexiness of:

Allison Bojarski, a.k.a. Alizinha, of The Brazilian Muse
Michael Barrish of Oblivio
Blaise K. of Bazima
Ned Vizzini
Michael McAllister of DogPoet
Todd Levin of Tremble
...and musical guest Chris G of Jimmy Legs.

Scary! Hold me?

September 28, 2004: Chicks and Giggles

The very sassy Nichelle (who performed at our Ladies First show last May) has been putting on Chicks and Giggles, a monthly show of the funniest female comics ever, for a while now, and you would be a better, happier, sexier human being if you checked out their next show (October 5, 8 p.m., at the Laugh Lounge). Among the performers is Jessica Delfino, who has cracked us up before at Ladies First and Bullies and Mean Girls. Jot down the particulars:

Tuesday, October 5, 8PM

Laura Mannino, Jenny Rubin, Fiona Walsh

September 28, 2004: WYSIWYG Needs You!

We've been having a pretty great time putting on the WYSIWYG Talent
Show these last few months, and talented folks and kickass audiences like all of you have made it possible.

Slowly but surely, we've been expanding the wysiwygtalentshow.org web site into an archive of past shows as well as a forum for keeping up
with what all of the participants are up to lately. Have you checked
out the rest of the site yet? We have bios of all our past performers with links to their web sites, a round-up of past shows with links to many of the pieces that were performed, this blog (of course), and an assortment of photos and clips from past shows.

Our coverage of past shows has been a little spotty, though, and
that's where you can do us a big favor. Did you or your friends get
any good photos from any nights you were there? Did you happen to make any audio or video recordings that we could post on the site? If you have any kinds of media from past shows that you could share with us, it would really help an awful lot. You can mail whatever you have to me at sparky@ultrasparky.org, or let me know if there's anyone I should track down.

Of course, we also hope you're going to join us on Wednesday, October
20, for our next show: Psychos I Have Dated or Worked For (or Both!)

And if you're interested in performing or planning to attend any more, we have a bunch of upcoming shows for you to consider:

November 16: You Can Go Home Again! (But You Probably Shouldn't)
December 14: Happy Goddamn Holidays (Updated theme!)
January 25: Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood: Missed Connections and Crossed Wires.
February 15: Spawn. Of. Worst. Sex. Ever.
March 22: Those Darn Kids: Tales by Parents and Former Children
April 19: Adult Children of (Insert Religion Here)
May 17: Arrested Development: I Fought the Law and the Law Won
June ??: I Love a Parade! The Pride Show

Thanks for everything, and all of us at the Talent Show hope we see
lots more of you.

September 27, 2004: not ned

Those Brits certainly have interesting radio programming. Apparently the BBC found my blog entries from 9/11 and asked me to do a brief interview for a segment they call Sunday Surgery. It's a youth oriented show taking hot-button issues and presenting them in a teen-friendly format. So, sandwiched in between songs from The White Stripes and Moby, there's me giving a brief account of 9/11. You can listen to it here.

September 22, 2004: Bullies and Mean Girls Wrap-up

Last night was a blast! Last month's panel was interesting and all, but it was SO nice to get back to our usual schtick of good people telling good stories.

Sparky took lots of pics and Kiri videotaped, so we hope to have more goodies up here on the site for you soon.

* José Ralat Maldonado has posted his story from last night as well as his rundown of events on his site; permalinks appear to not be working there, though, so if you're looking for it after today be sure to check for the September 22 entry.

* Cutie-patootie Alexis was there and offers a decidedly scatalogical observation.

* Backwards review is Nichelle's.

* Glenn's account of the evening is now up!

* Ellen's rundown and story are right here.

I'll be linking reviews and any stories that last night's readers post on their sites throughout today (and later, if that happens), so keep coming back here if you're curious! And if you're a blogger and happened to write about the show, please send a trackback or a comment or a shout-out or a rock through my window or something so I can be a good little blogfucker and link you back, k?

September 20, 2004: Bullies and Mean Girls Tuesday night!

Don't forget -- Tuesday night is our next big wing-ding, Bullies and Mean Girls! Featuring HOT LIVE BLOGGAZ, yo:

Mike Daisey (mikedaisey.com)
Rachel Kramer Bussel (lustylady.blogspot.com)
Glenn B. (glennalicious.org)
Ellen (standard-deviance.com)
José Ralat Maldonado (leftfieldlengua.blogspot.com)
Emily Gould (universalreview.com)
Jessica Delfino (jessydelfino.blogspot.com)

P.S.122's monthly all-blogger series of readings and performances, the WYSIWYG Talent Show, goes back to school after summer vacation, having survived mosquito bites, mall crushes, and band camp to bring you "Bullies and Mean Girls." This evening of stories and songs will take place on Tuesday, September 21 at 7:30pm at P.S.122, admission is $7.

The WYSIWYG Talent Show is a monthly showcase for the oft-overlooked genius of bloggers in or visiting New York City. WYSIWYG is the bastard child of "Worst. Sex. Ever." - a messy, spectacular anti-Valentine's Day retelling of 11 bloggers' most heinous sexual experiences, which everyone involved thought would be a one-off thing, but people seemed to dig it and the performers liked getting out of their dark, computer-infested apartments for a change.

P.S. 122 is located at 150 First Avenue at 9th St. (accessible from the #6 at Astor Place or the L at First Avenue). Tickets are $7 and can be purchased at the door or in advance at the P.S. 122 box office at 212-477- 5288 or online at Ticketweb.
