October 2004
It's turned out to be the kind of week that prevented me from doing a proper round of selecting, cropping, retouching, and arranging and whatnot, so I just threw up all my pictures from BlogJam for any and all who want to check out the array of bloggy goodness that was on hand that night:

Congratulations again, guys, for putting on a great show (and I mean it, it was a totally awesome show). Maybe we'll see you at the WYSIWYG Talent Show sometime?
BlogJam DC was an resounding success (in spite of Wonkette cancelling on them at the last minute just like she did on us - okay, basically, if she's committed to doing your event and something bigger comes along she'll ditch you like a hot potato). Kvetch, kvetch. Anyway, there's a very nice Metro Weekly article on the event. Much congrats to Jimbo, who was inspired to put together BlogJam DC after performing at our June "That's So Gay!" show, and thanks for his kind acknowledgement in his more detailed responses to the Metro Weekly folks. I feel I have to point out, though, that the June show wasn't just gay men -- we did have two dykes and a pair of adorable fruit fly girls on the bill that night too!
Speaking of past shows, we have a bunch of pics up from "Psychos I Have Dated or Worked For (or Both)" and hope to have some videos from the show up soon.
Also, another congrats to another WYSIWYG alum, Rachel Kramer Bussel on her latest step towards world media domination: becoming a columnist at the venerable Village Voice! Huzzah and kudos!
Strumming, singing cuties (and WYSIWYG alums) the Hazzards are interviewed today on Gothamist, with a kind mention of their WYSIWYG appearance this past June. Sweet!
FYI, here are the Googlisms we used Wednesday night to introduce the performers at "Psychos I Have Dated or Worked for (or Both!)":

Another month, another WYSIWYG! Last night's show was a blast, although we woefully missed out on the delicate flower that is Blaise K., as she was too flu-ridden and sickly to make it. Feel better, puddin'!
I've been looking for any online mentions of last night's show online; just a few so far but, as always, I'll add any additional links I find. Apparently there were quite a few new blogfolk in the audience, only a few of whom I ended up meeting. Say hi next time, people! I won't bite! I may hump your leg though, so it's totally up to your judgement.
* Ned talks about last night on his blog. (Ned is also in the Times today. That media floozy!)
* Bloody Sheets attended and has her rundown here.
* Michael Barrish's deliciously twisted story from last night was already online right here. Can I just say right now that I've heard Michael do this one before, and I LOOOOVE it? Also, whenever I think of that story, two things invariably compete for ohrwurm status: that goofyass Weebls-Stuff.com badger movie, and the Dead Milkmen's "Badger Song."
* Chris G has his rundown here, with pics!
* Todd Levin's got part of his story (tease!) online here.
* Alice Ayers has her review here.
* Culturebot's rundown is here.
Oh, and Chris G hasn't posted his song from last night, but you can hear lots of other stuff he and his bandmates have done on his music blog including a top-notch cover of Journey's "Separate Ways."
Relive past WYSIWYG shows or feel or see exactly what you missed in our Media section! We now have photos and video footage of all the performances from last month's Bullies and Mean Girls show, and a mix of photos, videos, and audio recordings from a few of the others we've done. Check 'em out!
All this, of course, will hopefully whet your appetite for this month's extravaganza of schadenfreude: Psychos I Have Dated or Worked For (or Both). The show's going to be at 7:30 at P.S. 122 (150 1st Ave. at East 9th St.) and you can get tickets at the door or buy them online through TicketWeb. It promises to be a ridiculously fun show, so don't be a schlub and forget about it!
Fey and Poehler watch your backs! There's another super female duo in
town. WYSIWYG alumnae Rachel Kramer Bussel and Nichelle will be co-hosting the Reading Series at Barbes on October 28th. They're subbing for our own Ned Vizzini as he goes on a book tour. It will be an extra special night with the fabulous Amy Sohn, Jessica Liese, and Daryl Lang. Come out to Park Slope, at 7 pm (376 9th St. @ 6th Ave.) Did I mention that it's FREE?!
Hey peeps!
Just in case you've forgotten, just in case you didn't catch it the first time, or just in case you didn't brand the dates into the soft, sweet skin of your inner arm with a hot paper clip, I wanted to let y'all know the dates and themes for the rest of this season's shows!
I love saying "this season's shows" -- makes me sound all theatrical and shit.
Anyhoo, these are subject to change, but if that happens it probably won't be any of the next few ones.
October 20: "Psychos I Have Dated or Worked For (or Both)"
November 16: "You Can Go Home Again! (But You Probably Shouldn't)"
December 14: "Happy Goddamned Holidays!"
January 25: "Please Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood: Missed Connections and Crossed Wires"
February 15: "Spawn. Of. Worst. Sex. Ever."
March 22: To be announced.
April 19: "Adult Children of (Insert Religion Here)"
May 17: "Arrested Development: I Fought the Law and the Law Won"
June 18: "That's Even Gayer! More Tales of Extremely Gay Gayness!" Or maybe it'll be "I Love a Parade!" Whatever. It's the gay show. It'll be really gay.
We did end up changing our December show; we're hoping to make it an ALL-MUSIC BLOGGER HOLIDAY EXTRAVAGANZA! So if anyone knows any bloggers who do music we should ask, let us know!
Remember, if you want to read or perform then send us your URL, your idea and a little bit of background.
As if the fantabulous lineup for our next show weren't enough reason for you to get your fanny down to P.S. 122 for it, we're now planning a joint afterparty with the good folk of The Rejection Show (which is happening the same night, also at PS). After the shows, we're all gonna head over to Openair, 121 St. Mark's near Avenue A.
Imagine how thrilled we were to run across the following item on ThinkGeek:
Awesome!
WYSIWYGer Michael Barrish runs a great reading series called Oblivio at the Bowery Poetry Club. The next installment is this Sunday, October 3rd at 4 p.m. and features Ross Lipman, Tobias Seamon, as well as Michael.
