December 2004
WYSIWYG's January 25* show promises to be extra-cool. The lovely misses Nichelle and Liza are guest-curating this time around, and they've got a great line-up for your enjoyment:
Jenny Francois of Aeki Tuesday
Carolyn Castiglia
Guy Brighton of Guy Brighton's Wishful Thinking in New York
Jon Collins
Rich Villar of The Book of Leviticus According to St. Ricardito
Ron Mwangaguhunga of The Corsair
* Yep, a week later than we usually do it. Mark your calendars!
December 15, 2004: Reviews!
Favorite moments of the night: when Anne of the Hazzards (who have a five-piece band with glockenspiel and harp) pulled out her cowbell and some girl behind me was all, "OOOOH! Cowbell!!" and the elderly couple in the front row who made everyone nervous about cussing and then fell asleep.
Jonny Goldstein's rundown is here.
The Hazzards' rundown is here. Plus we got a taste of their new EP, "So Pretty," which you can get here!
Three-time WYSIWYG champeen Jessica Delfino's rundown is here.
More post-show dissections as they crop up...
Alexis's rundown is here.
Hey, check it out! We've got some pictures up from last night's show! I had a lot of fun, and everyone there had a lot of fun, and everyone who thought it was too cold or whatever to come out really missed a great big musical hootenanny.
Just a note that December's show (Tuesday 12/14) will be a very special WYSIWYG - our first all-musical event! Don't miss it!!
Performers will be:
Tuesday, December 14, at 7:30 p.m. at
Performance Space 122
150 1st Ave. at East 9th St.
Tickets: $7
And another short, quick plug: WYSIWYG is brought to you, in part, by Culturebot.org, which is Performance Space 122's arts webzine. Culturebot covers alternative theater, dance, performance, music, literature and general culture. It is also the hub of an online network of Culturebots - bloggers who write about arts and culture. If you'd like to get involved we're always looking for contributors so you can go to http://www.culturebot.org/join/ and become a culturebot. We check the sites for posts about arts & culture and link to them. We also regularly email our list with invitations to special Culturebot events, as well as offers for free and discounted tickets to shows all over NYC. And if you don't have a site but are interested in being a contributing writer, that's good too.
