June 2005
This morning in my inbox, I found this offering from Bradford, who was inspired by Joel to write a haiku about last night:
eight gays share a stage
fisting, midgets, and dildos
Jacko would have smiled
If you gotta boil it down to 17 syllables, that pretty much sums it up. Let us not forget, however, that there was also talk of airbag boobies, Jason Priestley, turkey basters, at least three references to "Golden Girls," and a phrase that will forever be etched in my mind: crotch coffee.
There were also prizes, including a copy of Gay Haiku and a vintage 1999 Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue from back when they were still dirty, and a stump speech from our beloved mayoral candidate.
Thank you again to all the performers (Hanne Blank, Matthew Kovach, Joe Jervis, Jane Vincent, Bradford Shellhammer, Emily DePrang, Joel Derfner, and Dan Fishback), and let's also give a shout-out to Dibson T. Hofweiler (Dan's accompanist/co-conspirator). J'adore!
Here's the crime scene evidence so far:
* Emily DePrang's rundown is here.
* Jane Vincent's is here.
* Matthew Kovach's rundown and his story are here (and yes, his mother has already commented).
* Joe Jervis's rundown is here -- and now his story is up too, right here.
* Hanne Blank's rundown is here.
* Bradford's is here.
And from the peanut gallery:
* Jon Collins's rundown (perhaps the most detailed yet!) is here.
* Jake K.'s is here.
* Jere's is here.
* Davis's is here.
* Dagon's is here.
* Jeff's is here.
* Byrne's is here.
* Curly's is here.
* Jase's is here.
* Nadia's is here.
* Bart's is here.
* Mike's is here.
As always, will post links to more rundowns and reviews (and if any of last night's performers put 'em up, stories) as I find out about them -- feel free to email me or post a comment if you want me to catch it faster. I KNOW there were lots of bloggers there (*ahem* - Glenn, Jeff 'n' Matt, Cheryl, Dacia, The Trendy Nihilist, Eddie, Amanda, Josecito, and Jess - Bueller? Bueller? Am I missing anyone?) so perhaps we'll see more as the day wears on.
Happy Pride Week, y'all!
So check it out... the TicketWeb tickets are already sold out. There may still be a few tickets available through the P.S. 122 box office (call them at 212-477-5288), but I don't know for sure about that. If you've waited this long to get tickets, I don't know what to tell you except to buy earlier next year!
Also, it's general seating, so get there early if you want to get a decent seat.
“I Love A Parade: Even Gayer Tales of Extremely Gay Gayness!”
Last June the WYSIWYG Talent Show, the first-ever all-blogger series of readings and performances, celebrated Pride Month with “That’s SO Gay: Tales of Extremely Gay Gayness!” Afterwards people said, “Could you be any more gay?!” We took that as a challenge and this year have come back with “I Love A Parade: Even Gayer Tales of Extremely Gay Gayness!” The 2005 edition of our annual Pride show features more readers, more music and more queer fun for the whole dysfunctional family. So bring your rainbow flag and your freedom rings and enjoy this unique evening of humor, song and celebration!
