July 2005
We've just learned that we have to change the date for the September WYSIWYG. Our friends at P.S. 122 are going to be loading a set into our performance space on Tuesday, September 20, so we've had to change it to Tuesday, September 27. The new date should show up elsewhere on the website really soon, but for those of you who have marked your calendars already, please note the change!
Also, tonight I'll be on the Derek and Romaine Show on Sirius OutQ Radio alongside the adorable Joel Derfner (WYSIWYG superstah and the artist formerly known as Dr. Faustus), pimpin' both the 'WYG and my own site.
We're supposed to be on at about 9:15pm Eastern time or somewhere thereabouts. If you're a Sirius subscriber you can listen to the show on a Sirius-enabled radio on Channel 149, or you can catch it free online at Sirius OutQ's site. And you can call in toll free at (866) 305-6887. We'd love to hear from you! Last time I was on, the only call they got was someone asking "What's a blog?" I know you can do better than that.
Two things in NYC this week brought to you by WYSIWYG alums...
Tonight: "Off, Off, Off, Vegas," Jonny Goldstein's live TV call in cable comedy show!
When: 10 PM tonight, Eastern Standard Time (Monday, July 25)
Where: Channel 56 for Manhattan cable subscribers, mnn.org for internet viewers
Why: Comedy, current events, and low culture
Who: Jonny Goldstein, rock and roll raconteur John Sully, and maybe even special guest, novelist Kevin Brink Nielsen. Plus your live phone calls!
And Wednesday night is the latest edition of Bob Powers and Todd Levin's How To Kick People:
It's HOW TO KICK PEOPLE: TO THE MAX!! The most extreme comedy reading series that’s ever gone off-roading with a pair of sharks strapped to its biceps. Or something.
And it's all going down at a BRAND NEW THEATER. If you've ever been to H2KP before you will be so blown away by the comfort and luxury, it will induce labor! And if you've NEVER been to H2KP before, hi. How's it going? Is that your daddy's car?
HOW TO KICK PEOPLE: To The Max!!

Phew! Last night's summer camp stories show was the perfect way to beat the heat -- P.S. 122's a/c was working perfectly (for which everyone was grateful) and the lineup totally hit a home run with stories that were funny, nostalgic, sweet, and at times perverse. Seriously, Jonny, I'll never look at a sand dune the same way again.
Here's what's cropped up online about the show so far. As always, I'll add more linkage when I sees it.
Jess's story is here.
Sarah's story is here.
Jimbo's story is here.
Claudia has posted the first half of her story here and will be posting the second half soon
Susie's rundown is here.
Jonny's rundown is here.
Linus's rundown is here, and he has a few pics from the show up on his Flickr page - nice shots!).
Andy's rundown is here.
Rachel Kramer Bussel's rundown is here.
Interea's rundown is here.
Dagon's rundown is here.
Pessimistic Optimist didn't make it to the show as he'd hoped, but has posted his own summer camp story as an homage. (Oops -- he concludes it here.)

Don't forget that we're taking August off, but we'll be back on September 20 with "First, Last, and Insecurity: The World's Worst Roommates" (lineup TBA soon). Have a good summer, y'all!
Don't forget, kids! We've got camp stories a-go-go this evening at 7:30! All the info's below and on the front page of the site and in the shows section of the site and on the sites of all the people reading and... you know the drill. Hope to see you there!
Alas, my poor neglected little WYSIBLOG has fallen victim to the summer heat icky blahs. But at long last, here's a brave attempt at filling you in on some upcoming events with some of our past talent, presented with no attempt at chronological order. Hey, YOU wanna try to keep track of so many people? Go for it. Buttloads of cool things to do and people to see and people to do (both in and outside of NYC) after the jump!
