Who? Duh! Soce, slingin' Elemental Wizardry, dude!
The WYSIWYG faithful will remember Soce's loin-stirring performance of "S***ing D*cks" (hint: "Sitting Ducks" is incorrect) at the antepenultimate show in May. Since then he's been getting mad coverage in print and online, chez Richard.
Richard's piece on Soce is especially interesting in that it's also a piece on Forward Magazine...the piece is by the same journalist as the New York Press article, but it's been toned way down for a more, er, conservative audience.
Instead of refering to the song "Sucking Dicks" (there, I said it), Mr. Shinefield prefers "the most offensive song in his musical catalog, the title of which is a sexual act." The poor man's butt must've burned from the fence-sitting. You can just imagine the conflict: "I'd like to make you aware of the presence of a gay Jewish Rapper (yay!), but you'd probably be offended by the lyrics and would be wise not to investigate (boo!)."
Since that flurry of press coverage, Soce has performed at Knitting Factory on August, 17, as well as posted a new track, Wistful Breeze, for your evaluation and edification in anticipation of his upcoming album, The Lemonade Incident, due out October 22.
