October 2005
Paul Ford performed at our very first WYSIWYG ("Worst. Sex.
Ever.") in February of '04, before we even started calling it WYSIWYG.
From 2003 until this May, Paul wrote pseudonymous pieces for The Morning News posing as a 22-year-old Williamsburg alt-rocker named Gary Benchley. Benchley's popularity won Paul a book deal and great press from The New York Times.
Might his newfound fame and fortune have something to do with his role in ushering in The Age of WYSIWYG?
With three whole weeks until the next WYSIWYG, we thought perhaps you'd need something to tide you over, a dessert/appetizer of sorts.
Well, WYSIWYG alumna Claudia Cogan is copiloting Becky and Claudia's Supreme Offering this Thursday, October 27th at
8:00 PM. As always it will feature great stand ups, yummy cookies and local irony (can't do a show in Williamsburg without it).

Yeah, not so many this time, and fewer bloggers than usual were spotted in the crowd although we still had a great turnout in spite of the rain. Blogfolk who braved the storm include David, Amnesia, Heather, Douglas, Joe, Frank, and Michelle. As always, if anyone posts anything about the show I'll add the links as soon as I find them, as always.
It's Tuesday! It's gonna be great! It features the largest amount of people named Chris ever assembled on the WYSIWYG stage! Get yer ya-yas out and come see us!

Catch the only gay Jewish rapper blogger in WYSIWYG history on Saturday, Oct. 22nd as he celebrates the release of his new album, The Lemonade Incident.

First comes soce the elemental wizard flogging his new album, The Lemonade Incident. You can buy a copy on his blog and have him sign it Saturday night at the release party.
That's right--consider yourself on the list.
Seven bucks gets you ten hip hop acts and an audience with soce. That's a good deal, a hefty 1.42857143 hip hop acts per dollar.
The invite tells you all you need to know.
Then comes Monday, October 24th, when Mike Daisey will be headlining SMUT in New York City, a performance series devoted to "subversive, degenerate, erotic, dangerous, high-risk, low brow, and mind-altering material" at Galapagos. He'll be doing his level best to fulfill the promise of all seven of those adjectives.
The show is free, starts at 8pm, and more details are found here.
Mike also has several performances online at the moment, one for free at the BBC (look under October 12th), and a whole series of new extemporaneous stories available through Audible or iTunes.
Tuesday, as you know, is The WYSIWYGville Horror.
You haven't had time to purchase tickets yet? You're not fooling me, cause I can see, the way you shake and shiver.
Do it now, folks.
Finally, on Wednesday, with your pounding post-WYSIWYG hangover, you will stagger over to Bob Powers' How To Kick People, special Halloween edition: HTKP Sleeps With The Lights On.

noise will be the following scary talents:
- comedian Rena Zager, as seen on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend"
- cartoonist Emily Flake, creator of the alt-weekly comic strip Lulu Eightball
- Music from Pete Fitzpatrick of the band Clem Snide
and startlingly real phantasm footage recorded by How to Kick People's
own resident Ghosthunter. YOU ARE TOTALLY WELCOME!

Check it out! WYSIWYG got a half-page article (with an adorable pic of 'WYG performer Emily DePrang) in the latest issue of Curve, the lesboriffic magazine for lebotacious lesbians!
I did this interview a couple of months ago and had totally forgotten about it until a coworker mentioned seeing it, so I'm not sure how much longer the issue's on stands. In other words, pick it up pronto! Click here to read it.
After 40+ weeks of swelling, bloating, humongousness, and countless, ENDLESS pregnancy jokes, our dear Carolyn Castiglia finally decided to let the baby out.
Born at a hefty 8 lbs. 2 oz., Baby Adriana already has her own blog. Her debut at Chicks 'n Giggles is in 12 weeks.
Best wishes to Adriana and Carolyn!
Generally if you want to see three WYSIWYG bloggers sharing the stage, you have come to the monthly show and leave at the intermission, and that's just plain crazy and wasteful. Far more sane would be to check out Jon Friedman, Chelsea Peretti, and Bob Powers in this month's incarnation of (get ready)
