This Week in WYSIWYG: Three Alumni Pimp Their Goods
First comes soce the elemental wizard flogging his new album, The Lemonade Incident. You can buy a copy on his blog and have him sign it Saturday night at the release party.
That's right--consider yourself on the list.
Seven bucks gets you ten hip hop acts and an audience with soce. That's a good deal, a hefty 1.42857143 hip hop acts per dollar.
The invite tells you all you need to know.
Then comes Monday, October 24th, when Mike Daisey will be headlining SMUT in New York City, a performance series devoted to "subversive, degenerate, erotic, dangerous, high-risk, low brow, and mind-altering material" at Galapagos. He'll be doing his level best to fulfill the promise of all seven of those adjectives.
The show is free, starts at 8pm, and more details are found here.
Mike also has several performances online at the moment, one for free at the BBC (look under October 12th), and a whole series of new extemporaneous stories available through Audible or iTunes.
Tuesday, as you know, is The WYSIWYGville Horror.
You haven't had time to purchase tickets yet? You're not fooling me, cause I can see, the way you shake and shiver.
Do it now, folks.
Finally, on Wednesday, with your pounding post-WYSIWYG hangover, you will stagger over to Bob Powers' How To Kick People, special Halloween edition: HTKP Sleeps With The Lights On.
Joining Bob and Todd to go down to the basement and check on that
noise will be the following scary talents:
- comedian Rena Zager, as seen on Comedy Central's "Premium Blend"
- cartoonist Emily Flake, creator of the alt-weekly comic strip Lulu Eightball
- Music from Pete Fitzpatrick of the band Clem Snide
and startlingly real phantasm footage recorded by How to Kick People's
own resident Ghosthunter. YOU ARE TOTALLY WELCOME!
Check it all out:
Wednesday, October 26th, 7:30 PM
At their brand newish location, Mo Pitkin's House Of Satisfaction
34 Avenue A, (Between 2nd and 3rd Streets)
Admission: $8
Advanced tickets can be gotten right here.
