Advanced tix to see Dan Fishback in "No Direction Homo" are $10 until March 1st, after which they go up to $15. Tickets are available at P.S. 122 (3-day passes will be $30 before and after March 1st, for the truly industrious performance art fanatics.)
Schoolhouse Roxx presents:
NO DIRECTION HOMO: The Many Identical Personae of Dan Fishback
March 9-11, 9pm, P.S.122 (150 1st Avenue)
$15 door, $10 adv. (thru March 1)
$30 for a 3-night pass.
Raunchy performance artist, sensitive singer-songwriter, rock-n-roll nincompoop: Dan Fishback is the quintessential Renaissance Queer, with more disguises than Madonna and more projects than Harlem. NO DIRECTION HOMO celebrates the chaotic life of this 24-year-old, up-and-coming anti-diva, in all his exhausted, over-extended glory.
Night One, JAMZ FROM THE JESTER'S KITCHEN, showcases Fishback's childlike, anti-folk power-pop band Cheese On Bread, along with dance-rock BFFs The Bloodsugars, and downtown puberty-freaks The O'Debra Twins.
Night Two, STORIES FROM THE PRINCE'S TOILET, presents a performance art mix-tape, with highlights from Fishback's brief but prolific career as a playwright and monologist. Underscored by the music of Dibson Hoffweiler and Preston Spurlock, Fishback weaves together a dozen stories of desire,
distress, and bodily functions to create a portrait of queer confusion at the dawn of the apocalypse.
Night Three, SONGS FROM THE QUEEN'S TERRACE, closes the festival with Fishback at his most intense, as a focused, feisty queer troubadour, armed with an acoustic guitar and a collection of songs from both his debut album, "Sweet Chastity," and his upcoming release, "Mammal." The evening begins with surrealist balladeers The Tri-Lambs, and a special, miraculous appearance by legendary feminist performance artist and playwright Deb Margolin.

And don't miss Rachel Kramer Bussel's
In the Flesh Erotic Reading Series
Wednesday, March 15 at 8 PM
Happy Ending Lounge, 302 Broome Street
(B/D to Grand, J/M/Z to Bowery, F to Delancey)
Admission: Free
Happy Ending Lounge: 212-334-9676
In March, In The Flesh features several of today's most prominent erotic writers. Laura Antoniou is beloved by the BDSM community for her ongoing Marketplace series, as well as her diverse erotic fiction and kink-oriented lectures. Debra Hyde runs the blog Pursed Lips and has contributed to numerous anthologies, including Leather, Lace and Lust and Best Lesbian Erotica 2006. Maxim Jakubowski, who's edited 13 volumes of The Mammoth Book of Erotica series and written numerous erotic novels, makes a rare appearance from his home in London. Host Rachel Kramer Bussel will read her story, "Taking It All," from the new anthology Aqua Erotica 2. Copies of Aqua Erotica 2, The Mammoth
Book of Erotica, and The Catalyst and Other Works will be given away throughout the evening.
I know, I know, the WYSIblog isn't nearly so up to date on the comings and goings of our many talented alums as it used to be. We need a new intern! Anyone want to volunteer a couple hours a week for a little resume padding and free admission to the shows?
Anyway, there are two events featuring past WYGgers this week that we absolutely must! Mention!
On Wednesday, February 22, 'WYG alums Todd Levin and Bob Powers will celebrate the 2nd anniversary of their show How to Kick People with The Funeral of Bob Powers and Todd Levin. With sincere-sounding eulogies from Mike Albo, Chris Regan, Dan Cronin, Joshua Comers, Andres du Bouchet, and Lisa Whiteman. The show's at Mo Pitkin's, 34 Avenue A b/w 2nd & 3rd Sts., at 8pm. Tickets are $8 and can be purchased in advance here.
And on Thursday, February 23, the fabulous and lovely Cheryl B presents the Poetry vs. Comedy Variety Show at Galapagos! The show features several other past WYSIWYG performers: Carolyn Castiglia, Jon Friedman, Desiree Burch, and Greg Walloch! Carolyn Castiglia emcees, with poets Janice Erlbaum, Hal Sirowitz, and Greg Walloch, and comedians Desiree Burch, Jon Friedman, and Becky Yamamoto. The show starts at 8pm and Galapagos is located at 70 N. 6th St. in Williamsburg.
Wow. Almost 200 people crammed in for our last show at P.S. 122 (more on that in a moment) for our THIRD installment of "Worst. Sex. Ever." and it was fucking awesome, frankly. I'm *still* walking funny.
That handful of empty seats you see? Totally full by the time we started. It was standing-room-only and absolutely insane.
As always, some performers may choose to post their stories or their thoughts about doing the 'WYG online after the show. Here are the ones that I've found so far, and I'll add additional links as they appear:
* Hanne's take on the evening and her story are here.
* The Assimilated Negro has posted his story (along with the song he'd planned to perform but couldn't due to time restrictions) in several parts on his site, starting here.
* Greg Walloch's take on the evening is here.
* Desiree's thoughts on the evening are here.
* Audacia's rundown is here.
* Todd's got an excerpt of his performance here.
And a few bloggers in the audience have posted thoughts and reviews too:
* Mike
* Byrne (with a promise to write more later)
* Jen Dziurna (who, along with Allison, The Assimilated Negro, and myself, got to play a small role in Todd Levin's piece)
* Curly McDimple
* Joe. My. God.
* Cornfield Streaker
* Jewgrrl
* DrunkBrunch
* Jase (with ratings!)
Other bloggers spotted in the audience who haven't mentioned the show yet on their sites but might at some point, maybe, hint hint: Cheryl B., Marky Mark, Blaise K., Jen, Lisa, and Heather. I'm sure I missed a ton of people -- blame the stress, the performance high, and the Southern Comfort!
Thanks again to all of you who braved the crowds to join us, thanks to Dan and Andy for being such wonderful partners in doing this craziness, and thanks to the performers:
* Todd Levin (http://Tremble.com)
* John "Jonno" D'Addario (http://jonno.com, http://Fleshbot.com)
* Hanne Blank (http://misia.livejournal.com and http://hanneblank.com)
* Greg Walloch (http://gregwallochblog.blogspot.com/)
* Desiree Burch (http://mebigyoulittle.blogspot.com/)
* The Assimilated Negro (http://theassimilatednegro.blogspot.com/)
* Audacia Ray (http://wakingvixen.com)
* Emily Deprang (http://pigeoninthesun.blogspot.com)
* With music from dj:ayden (http://thebutchcaucus.blogspot.com)
And special sweet thanks are due to Allison of The Brazilian Muse and Richard of Sturtle.com for providing the performers and a few lucky other folks with a buttload of delicious cupcakes. Oh, yes. Sadly, I didn't manage to get a pic of Allison's cupcakes (which were homemade and CRAZY delicious like Red Vines and Mr. Pibb) but here are the ones Richard sent over from Sugar Sweet Sunshine.
Craft services, WYSIWYG style!
We hope to have have video of all but two of the performances available here on the site as soon as possible -- will keep you posted!
As I mentioned, next month we're moving to Bowery Poetry Club (although we hope to come home to P.S. 122 for special events from time to time). The folks at P.S. 122 have been wonderful to us for the past two years and we'll always be grateful to them, and it's sad to be leaving. But we've long wanted to be in a space that's a little more conducive to socializing so people can have a few drinks during the show if they want and stick around to hang out afterwards. We'll be launching WYSIWYG 2.0 on March 21 with "Starfuckers: Close Encounters of the Famous Kind" -- more info on that soon!!
FYI, gang... tickets are almost sold out for next Tuesday's "Worst. Sex. Ever. III: When Bad Sex Happens to Good People"! Last I checked, there were only a few left, and that's with almost a week to go. So if you haven't bought yours yet, do so now!
'WYG alum Jon Friedman's Rejection Show is back tonight, February 7, featuring the rejectinos of Michael Showalter, Peter Hyman, a rejected pilot from Channel 102, the New Yorker Cartoon Caption Contest rejections and submissions from the New Yorker Anti-Caption Contest! The show is at Mo Pitkin's House of Satisfaction at 8:30PM, 34 Avenue A (2nd and 3rd St., F or V to Second Ave.) Tickets are $10 (NO drink minimum) -- call the Mo Pitkin's box office at (212) 777-5660 or click here to buy. Join Jon and the other Rejects after the show in the Sadies Lounge at Mo Pitkin's for drinks and more fun.

At last, another update to the poor, neglected-since-we-lost-our-beloved-intern WYSIblog! There's a whole buncha stuff going on this weekend and upcoming with alums of the 'WYG. Check 'em out!
Tonight! See several WYGgers, hot mama (and hostess) Carolyn Castiglia, uke cuties The Hazzards, and dirty girl Jessica Delfino at Riffs and Gigs at Mo Pitkin's House of Satisfaction, 34 Avenue A between 2nd and 3rd for a mere $5, along with Adira Amram, Erin and Her Cello, and Mindy Raf.
On Sunday, February 5th there are two opportunities to catch some of your WYSIWYG faves, both at 7 p.m.
Cheryl B's Atomic Reading Series returns to Lucky 13 Saloon. Join WYSIWYG perennial babe Blaise K., writer/filmmaker C.O. Moed, Mad Hatter’s Review editor Carol Novack and poet G. Emil Reutter for lively night of literary entertainment. FREE! Lucky 13 is located at 273 13th St. just off 5th Ave. in Park Slope
And Dan Fishback's Please Let Me Love You, a Tragic Performance Play, will be held at The Glass House Gallery (38 South 1st Street, Brookly, accessible by the Bedford L and the Marcy JMZ trains.) Featuring: Dan Fishback, Megan Gaffney, Dibson Hoffweiler, Jason Rabinowitz, Preston Spurlock and Samantha Tunis; Director: Billy Rosen; Stage Manager: Katharine Croke; Sound Guy: Cesar Alvarez; Playwright: Dan Fishback. Michael Jackson "loves" children. George W. Bush "loves" Iraqis. Pat Robertson "loves" gay people. Your psychotic ex "loves" you. You'd think with all this love going around, fewer people would get killed, maimed, abused, and traumatized. Explore the violence of love and the love of violence in this disturbing new play. Each performance will be followed by a raging party, featuring NYC's raddest anti-folk, bluegrass, and indie-rock bands. The price of admission will drop from $10 to $6 during the band sets. Sunday's bands are Schwervon!, The Leader, and The Jeffrey Lewis Band. *THE WARNING*: This performance contains graphic violence and disturbing sexual content. Young children uninterested in such things should not attend. We'd expect nothing less from Dan.
And finally, check out WYSIWYG's favorite Jewish gay rapper, Soce the Elemental Wizard, who has a new video available online right here!
More stuff to be posted tomorrow, PROMISE.
Uh mah gah, my baby is going to be THREE!
Oh yeah. You heard me. Three. THREE! And it's not just going to be any old WYSIWYG show. We're going to have music, booze, dancing, and hookers! Okay, maybe not hookers. But then again, maybe we will. I need to come up with an apartment deposit, after all. So mark your calendars for February 14, take the next day off work for the impending hangover, and buy your tickets now because this one WILL sell out!

In February 2004, eleven intrepid bloggers took to the stage of P.S. 122 to recount hilarious tales of cringe-worthy seductions and share the intimate details of the worst sex they'd ever had. The show was completely sold out with lines around the block, launching The WYSIWYG Talent Show, a monthly series of themed readings and performances from some of the blogosphere's best and funniest writers, musicians, comedians and performance artists.
On February 14, 2006 we celebrate our third birthday! Over the past two years we have presented over 100 bloggers telling stories, cracking jokes, singing songs, and even showing films! So this Valentine's Day bring someone you love to our third annual celebration of terrible trysts and unfortunate couplings: "Worst. Sex. Ever. III: When Bad Sex Happens to Good People."
The show will include appearances by comedian Todd Levin (Comedy Central), writer "The Assimilated Negro" (Village Voice, Gawker.com) and John "Jonno" D'Addario, editor of the web's most notorious sexblog, Fleshbot.com, among others. Featuring music by dj:ayden and a post-show reception with drinks and dancing this is sure to be a fun-filled anti-Valentine's day soiree.
The WYSIWYG Talent Show's "Worst. Sex. Ever. III: When Bad Sex Happens to Good People" performs Tuesday, February 14, at 7:30 p.m. at Performance Space 122 (150 1st Ave. at East 9th St.) Tickets are $7 and can be purchased online here or by phone at 212-352-3101.
