November 15, 2006: Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes

Ready for tonight's show? Well, we've got some changes to the program you oughta know about...

TONIGHT, Wednesday, November 15
Bowery Poetry Club
308 Bowery between Bleecker and Houston
Doors open at 7:30 p.m., show at 8:00 p.m.
Tickets $7 at the door

Alas, Heather Ann Snodgrass (fauxy.net) is not feeling totally up to snuff today so she probably won't be able to make it. Feel better, Heather! So we have an addition to the lineup: comedian, all-around mensch, and Dude with Pretty Hair Dan Allen of Tao of Dan. Also, our very own WYSIWYG producer and co-creator Andy Horwitz of Andy's Chest has a short new piece he's going to perform. And an as-yet-unnamed special guest star might be showing up as well. So the show should be just dandy; it may be a bit of a mishmash as far as the theme goes but it'll be a full lineup and mucho fun! Hope you can join us!

With performances by:

* Michael Malice (michaelmalice.com/gospels.html, OverheardAtCollege.com)
* Lia (cheesedip.com)
* Danielle Thorburn (fluffmuppet.blogspot.com)
* Dan Allen (TaoofDan.com)
* Andy Horwitz (andyschest.com)

November 14, 2006: Son of a...

Omigoodness! WYSIWYG alum and funny lady Susie Felber has gone and reproduced! And he is TEH CUTE:

Welcome to the world, little Hugo! And big congrats to Susie and her husbandly unit for making such an adorable lil' muffin!

In other 'WYGger news...

This just in from Jessica Delfino:
I'm in a play every Friday in Brooklyn which got a Voice Choice in the Village Voice. It's a musical! AND on Wednesday, I'm in an erotic reading series - COMIC SEX NIGHT, for which I've prepared something dastardly and very special. All the dirty details are below...

"Jessica Delfino Is Sorry To Disturb You'
Tuesday Nights In November
RIFIFI / Cinema Classics - (Nov. 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th)
332 E. 11th St. (1st / 2nd Aves), NYC
10 PM / $5

This show is an open "apology" for all of Jessica's dark, sometimes disturbing sense of humor. Described as "A cross between Redd Foxx and Jewel" by The Onion and called, "The Lower East Side's folkie queen of obscene" by The Village Voice, Jessica Delfino's style of comedy has offended, irritated, annoyed, bugged, boggled and even pissed off at least one person of every race, color and creed. So, Jessica decided it's high time she set things right with the world. Showing examples of her offenses, this show will feature her dirtiest ditties, her most vulgar stand-up and her most outrageous short films, as well as some surprises, all of which she will attempt to atone for. (Or not.) Come prepared to get all up in a tizzy.

This week: With Mike Amato, Moonshine Shorey, Jarret Berenstein, Mike "I", Margaret Champaigne, Dan Fishback, Geoff Haggerty, Daniel Michael

AND EVERY FRIDAY:

LITTLE BUILDING
A very funny musical by Nick Jones, brain-star behind Jollyship The Whiz-Bang. It's about a building that falls in love with a man. I play a gypsy airport. Every Friday in November at Galapagos (two shows left!) at Galapagos (back room), 70 N. 6th St., $12 or $10 through www.smarttix.com.

November 12, 2006: It ain't easy being green

We have another WYSIWYG show next week!

With performances by:

* Michael Malice (michaelmalice.com/gospels.html, OverheardAtCollege.com)
* Heather Ann Snodgrass (fauxy.net)
* Lia (cheesedip.com)
* Danielle Thorburn (fluffmuppet.blogspot.com)

More about the performers:

Michael Malice is the subject of Harvey Pekar’s latest graphic novel, Ego & Hubris. He is the author and founding editor of Overheard in New York and currently runs OverheardAtCollege.com. In Entertainment Weekly’s opinion, he possesses “a superiority complex both repellent and compelling.” While the “slacker genius” (GQ) in him finds this disquieting, the “sociopathic jerk” (Wired) is otherwise oddly unaffected.

Heather Ann Snodgrass is an Australian-born, Canadian-educated alien who moved to New York from San Diego last December ago to counter the severe shortage of freelance writers in the city. She rose to Internet fame last fall as one of the writers behind the parody blog, Tale of Two Sisters (goldsteins.typepad.com) and now serves as a chorewhore intern for Gawker.com. A sucker for emotionally and otherwise unavailable men, Heather finds herself inexplicably drawn to dive bars with satellite jukeboxes and she can probably drink you under the table. Her burgeoning alcoholism is well documented at fauxy.net, and she doesn't really give a shit what you think about her, unless it's regarding her mad fellatio skillz or her collection of adorably girly shoes.

Lia loves her dog, New York City and bacon, usually in that order. She received her master's degree from NYU's Interactive Telecommunications Program and makes her living as a freelance writer, designer, photographer, and new media consultant.

Danielle Thorburn arrived in NYC on a very big jet from Australia nearly five years ago, on the eve of her 30th birthday. She hoped that the culture shock would outweigh the age shock. It did! So much so that she forgot to leave. Danielle has become the new American Dream (™). She lives in Brooklyn with a small but vibrant cult who feed her heart and mind on a regular basis. She loves meeting people, playing Boggle, obsessing over Meryl Streep, and sculpting friends out of polymer clay. Check out more of her art and words at fluffmuppet.blogspot.com.

So come on out to Bowery Poetry Club on Wednesday night and join us, mmmkay?
