<![CDATA[<p>So, this next <a href="http://WYSIWYGtalentshow.org">WYSIWYG</a>? It's also going to be the last WYSIWYG.</p>

<center><img src="http://www.wysiwygtalentshow.org/blog/archives/images/06.07_promo.jpg"></center>

<p>After three and a half years we've decided to move along to other projects. And we figured why not go out on a really gay note with our annual Pride show? I think it may be the single gayest show we've ever done, too -- and if you've been to WYSIWYG before, you know that's saying a lot. It's going to be EXTRA gay. And loads of fun. We might just be back in the future with occasional special events, but for now I need a bit of a break and would love to return to just being a somewhat-anonymous blogger.</p>

<p>We have a great lineup for the last show and I'm hoping a lot of people come to wish us goodbye on June 13. Here's the info:</p>

<p>The WYSIWYG Talent Show’s Farewell Show<br />
Gays Gone Wild!<br />
Gayer Tales of Gay Gayness</p>

<p>Unfortunately, all good things do come to an end. To celebrate The WYSIWYG Talent Show’s farewell show, we will make tribute to all things Dorothy in honor of Gay Pride Month with “Gays Gone Wild!: Gayer Tales of Gay Gayness” on Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at The Bowery Poetry Club.</p>

<p>This will be the official farewell show for WYSIWYG as we wrap up three and a half years of the first all-blogger reading series in New York City. We laughed, we cried, we wet our pants, all in the pursuit of hilarity, performance and potty jokes. Our final homage to the talented bloggers who have graced our stage this year will feature a gaggle of gay readings from the queerest of the queer, be they gay, lesbian, straight, trans, bi or robot bloggers. So get your chaps on and gussy up your Subaru Outbacks because this will definitely be the best and bumpiest ride you’ve ever been on. </p>

<p>“Gays Gone Wild!: Gayer Tales of Gay Gayness” performs Wednesday, June 13 at The Bowery Poetry Club (308 Bowery between Bleecker and Houston). Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the show show starts at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $7.00 at the door. For more information, visit the WYSIWYG website at wysiwygtalentshow.org.</p>

<p>With performances by:</p>

<p>* Joel Derfner (<a href="http://joelderfner.com/blog">http://joelderfner.com/blog</a>)<br />
* Kelli Dunham (<a href="http://kellidunham.livejournal.com">http://kellidunham.livejournal.com</a>, <a href="http://kellidunham.com">http://kellidunham.com</a>)<br />
* Joe Jervis (<a href="http://joemygod.blogspot.com">http://joemygod.blogspot.com</a>)<br />
* Cheryl B (<a href="http://theblist.blogspot.com">http://theblist.blogspot.com</a>)<br />
* Rod Townsend (<a href="http://manhattanoffender.com">http://manhattanoffender.com</a>)<br />
* Amnesia Sparkles (<a href="http://amnesiasparkles.com">http://amnesiasparkles.com</a>,<br />
<a href="http://www.adrianacosta.com">http://www.adrianacosta.com</a>, <a href="http://www.myspace.com/nosubordination">http://www.myspace.com/nosubordination</a>)<br />
* Leigh Thompson (<a href="http://bipedalmammal.livejournal.com">http://bipedalmammal.livejournal.com</a>)</p>

<p>Info about the performers after the jump:</p>]]>
<![CDATA[<p>Joel Derfner is from South Carolina, where his great-grandmother had an affair with George Gershwin. After fleeing the south as soon as he possibly could, he eventually moved to New York to get an M.F.A. in musical theater writing from the Tisch School of the Arts. Musicals for which he has written the scores have been produced in London, New York, and various cities in between (going counterclockwise). In an attempt to become the gayest person ever, he joined Cheer New York, New York’s gay and lesbian cheerleading squad, but eventually he had to leave because he was too depressed. In desperation, he started knitting and teaching aerobics, though not at the same time. He hopes to come to a bad end.</p>

<p>Kelli Dunham may be the typical skateboard-riding, houseboat-dwelling,<br />
stealth gender non-variant, too many book reading ex nun dyke comic but she is also very a much a Dyke On A Mission. During her recent "I am NOT a 12 Year Old Boy" tour (more than 100 shows in 11 months), Kelli performed for the attendees of the Beltane Sacred Sexuality Conference (on the front row? A dude wearing a beret and a cape and nothing else), and at dozens of fundraisers, community events, colleges, and clubs. She was profiled in the May 2005 issue of Curve Magazine which declared "Kelli cracks us up" and was featured in an episode of Penn and Teller’s “Bullshit” on Showtime. She is one of the co-founders of the Famous Lesbian Comedy Road Show and Gayety, Philly's own queer experimental comedy performing series. Kelli is also the author of two books and a contributor to numerous anthologies, is currently preparing for the recording of her upcoming CD, Something About (the Virgin) Mary, and pens a humor column for Passional Magazine as well as the website Phillygaycalendar.com.</p>

<p>Joe Jervis is the southern-born son of Newark refugees. He has worked for a newspaper, a radio station, a television station, a theatre company, a record company and a magazine publisher. He looks forward to new media being invented, so that he can fail at those too. Joe is the director of <i>Pride</i> magazine, the official guide to Pride nationwide, and has been writing his personal blog, JoeMyGod.blogspot.com, since May 2004. Joe is featured in the recent Carroll & Graf anthology <i>From Boys to Men: Personal Essays of Gay Coming of Age</i>.</p>

<p>Cheryl B.’s work appears in dozens of print and online publications. She is also the creator and producer of PVC: The Poetry vs. Comedy Variety Show, a monthly event at the Bowery Poetry Club featuring comedians and performance poets. Cheryl has given readings and performances of her work throughout the U.S. and Great Britain. In 2003, Cheryl received an artist’s fellowship from the New York Foundation for the Arts and a residency at the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts. Cheryl lives in Brooklyn.</p>

<p>A native of Indiana, Rod Townsend pushed aside a promising writing career for an amazingly long stint at dead-end corporate slave-wagery. For having taken that career path he kicks himself daily (which he could never have done without his yoga instructor). Rod currently writes for his own sites, Manhattan Offender and LOLgay, and has a weekly column at Gawker. These activities will someday open up many opportunities for writing and performing as he continues working on his first novel. Or so he thinks. He also thinks he is devastatingly sexy.</p>

<p>Amnesia Sparkles (Adrian L. Acosta) is most popularly known for her<br />
appearance in the first season of Fox's hit television show "American<br />
Idol," an ordeal that haunts her to this very day. Her mission: To erase people's worries (if only for a few minutes) and to make your inner self sparkle with joy... but she'll basically do anything for a buck these days. "I'm all about 'LOVE': spreading it like an infectious disease."</p>

<p>Leigh Thompson is a Heartland escapee, a furious trans activist, and a<br />
raging queer. He has a BA in Theatre Direction and is developing an<br />
individualized Master's at NYU in community organizing, social change, and art. His blog, which he often calls a "personal conversation with the world," is a desperate attempt to fill the holes of his rapidly failing memory. Join him on his self-important romp of trivial life details! Read shopping lists, political rants, streams of consciousness, theory papers, bad haikus, public speech texts and more!<br />

<![CDATA[<p>Wowie wow wow! Last night's sold-out "Worst. Sex. Ever. IV." was... well, I'd say orgasmic, but maybe that's not the best choice of words given the topic. Still, hearing funny stories about bad sex is always so much more fun than HAVING bad sex, and a good time was had by all. And it was <em>packed</em>! Lookit this fine crowd!</p>

<center><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/apollonia666/391376909/" title="Photo Sharing"><img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/135/391376909_af0baf0005.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="Our adorable audience, pt. 3" /></a></center>

<p>We started things off with <a href="http://fauxy.decentcontent.com/">Heather Ann Snodgrass</a> and her hot shoes, who prefaced her story of a mythical lost condom with some hilarious emails she received from nervous former booty calls who were worried that they might be the subject of her performance. <a href="http://thebutchstroll.blogspot.com/">Stroll</a> waxed nostalgic for a 20-year-old homeboy with a lazy eye and a penchant for Maya Darren; <a href="http://uffish.com">I</a> disclosed WAY too much info with a PowerPoint presentation dissecting all the bad sex I had in 2006; and <a href="http://jonwcollins.livejournal.com/">Jon W. Collins</a> explained why all true patriots should support the troops, eat a pot roast, and fuck a sailor. <a href="thefacetime.blogspot.com">Becky Ciletti</a> then made us all remember how, when you're 22, "How about a blow job?" sounds just like "I love you" and <a href="http://joemygod.blogspot.com/">Joe Jervis</a>ended the night with a collection of bad online come-ons and a tale of Daddy roleplaying gone terrifyingly wrong. We also had some fun prizes, like a riding crop and a curiously feathered vibrator, courtesy of <a href="http://www.stereoscope.fm/">Mark</a>.</p>

<p>The online afterbirth thus far:</p>

<p>* I didn't manage to get very good pics of everyone, unfortunately, but I did get a few and they're available at the WYSIWYG pool on Flickr <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/wysiwygtalentshow/pool/">here</a> -- if you took any, we'd love it if you added them to the group!</p>

<p>* <a href="http://thebutchstroll.blogspot.com/">Stroll</a> has blogged about last night and posted his story <a href="http://thebutchstroll.blogspot.com/2007/02/something-so-right-has-got-no-chance-to.html">here</a>.</p>

<p>* <a href="http://jonwcollins.livejournal.com/">Jon W. Collins</a>'s story is now online <a href="http://jonwcollins.livejournal.com/255677.html">here</a>.</p>

<p>* <a href="http://joemygod.blogspot.com/">Joe Jervis</a> will be posting his story soon, but in the meantime you should see some of the bad sex stories his readers have sent in <a href="http://joemygod.blogspot.com/2007/02/open-thread-thursday_15.html">here</a>.</p>

<p>Lots of other bloggers were, as always, in attendance (I was all a-tizzy but I do remember spotting <a href="http://crashandbyrne.blogspot.com/">Crash</a>, <a href="http://www.epenthesis.org/">Mike</a>, and <a href="http://www.curlymcdimple.com/">Curly</a>) so there may be other reviews and rundowns to come. If you post about the show, I'll try to track it down but it would be great if you could email me or comment here so I can link 'er up right away.</p>

<p>HUUUUUGE bulging thanks to all of the performers, everyone who came to the show, and our good friends at <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/wysiwygtalentshow/pool/">Bowery Poetry Club</a> for making last night so deliciously dirty and fun!</p>]]>

We at WYSIWYG would be <em>delighted</em> to let you use pictures of our stellar cast, but a little tip o' the hat is just the proper thing to do, especially since so many of you have been in the show. You know, in the show that's happening again next week, like the one from which you stole the picture, that you might have even given a tiny plug."</p>

<p>On the reals, y'all. We love us some Gawker, and members of their past and present staff have even been performers at WYSIWYG shows -- heck, one of their own is even performing at next week's show -- but this is bad Internet behavior. </p>]]>

<![CDATA[<p>Got your tickets yet? Worst. Sex. Ever. IV. is coming next Wednesday, and we're starting to get some press coverage, and if the past bad sex extravaganzas are any indication this bad boy is going to sell out soon! Advance tickets are available <a href="http://virtuous.com/events/v/78460746/">here</a>.</p>

<p>* We're mentioned in <a href="http://www.gonycmagazine.com/feature4.html">GO NYC Magazine's roundup </a> (we're on page two)</p>

<p>* Byrne Harrison <a href="http://www.stagebuzz.com/2007/02/05/interview-with-chris-hampton-of-the-wysiwyg-talent-show/">interviewed me about WYSIWYG for Stage Buzz</a></p>

<p>Couple more things coming up, which I'll post links to here. </p>

<p>Also, here's some 'WYG alum news: </p>

<p>* The fabulous ladies of <a href="http://www.varietyshac.com/">Variety Shac</a> have a new short film out -- it's called "Andrea's Art" and can be seen <a href="http://www.varietyshac.com/videos/shorts.html">here</a>.</p>

<p>* <a href="http://socetew.livejournal.com/">Soce the Elemental Wizard</a> is performing this Thursday, February 8, at 7pm at Bluestockings Bookstore, 172 Allen Street (@ Stanton). Free!</p>

<p>* <a href="http://mebigyoulittle.blogspot.com/">Desiree Burch</a>'s new show, 52-Man Pickup, performs this Friday, February 9th @ 7:30 PM at <a href="http://www.galapagosartspace.com">Galapagos Art Space</a>, 70 North 6th Street in Williamsburg.  Free!</p>

<p>* While we'd love for everyone to come to Worst. Sex. Ever. IV. on Valentine's Day, another option for that evening is the latest offering from 'WYG alums <a href="http://www.tremendousrabbit.com/">Jon Friedman</a> and <a href="http://giuliaiscuteandcheap.blogspot.com/">Giulia Rozzi</a> -- a joint show from <a href="http://www.rejectionshow.com/">The Rejection Show</a> and <a href="http://www.getmortified.com/">Mortified</a>! So if you're not coming to WYSIWYG, check out their evening of love song karaoke, live music, DJ, drinks and partying at The Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater. The show is $10. <![CDATA[<p>So someone just pointed this out to me... twice in the last week, the folks at <a href="http://gawker.com">Gawker</a> have taken images off of the WYSIWYG website and reposted them. <a href="http://gawker.com/news/rachel-sklar/rachel-sklar-is-bags-of-fun-credibility-227691.php"><br />
This post about Rachel Sklar</a> features a <a href="http://wysiwygtalentshow.org/media/092705/index.html">photo</a> from our <a href="http://wysiwygtalentshow.org/shows/092705/index.html">"First, Last, and Insecurity" show</a> in September of 2005, and last week in <a href="http://gawker.com/news/elizabeth-spiers/the-buttondown-mind-of-liz-spiers-226153.php">this post about Elizabeth Spiers</a> they used a Photoshopped a <a href="http://wysiwygtalentshow.org/media/041905/index.html">photo</a> from her performance at our <a href="http://wysiwygtalentshow.org/shows/041905/index.html">"Minimum Rage"</a> show in April of the same year. </p>

<p>Um, Gawker, what gives? I thought y'all were supposed to know about how this whole Internet thing works? Granted, we've had <a href="http://wysiwygtalentshow.org/performers/index.html">a LOT of well-known NYC bloggers</a> perform at WYSIWYG in our three years of existence, so it's not surprising that we may be a source for photos of some of the people Gawker likes to mention, and it's not that we mind sharing photos, but asking for permission would be nice, or at least some linky love for using materials taken from our site. Especially since Gawker's <a href="http://www.gawker.com/news/gawker/meet-your-new-gawkers-211539.php">co-editor</a> is herself a <a href="http://wysiwygtalentshow.org/performers/gould.html">'WYG alum</a>. And given how much of my work days I dither away reading your site. Just saying.</p>

<p>In other news, we have a show next week, in case you hadn't noticed it plastered all over the front page of the site! And for this one, we've ditched the themes -- it's a total free-for-all. So come on out next Wednesday, 'cause there's no telling what these crazy kids will be doing! </p>

<p>The WYSIWYG Talent Show<br />

<![CDATA[<p>Last night's 'WYG, "I'm Not as Think as You Drunk I Am: Tales of Extreme Inebriation," was as boozy and fun as one might have expected. <a href="http://helendamnation.blogspot.com">Helen Damnation</a> kicked things off with a story about pissing in Times Square -- she always knows how to start things off with class, that Helen. <a href="http://emilyepstein.blogspot.com">Emily Epstein</a> told us about bungee jumping while intoxicated, <a href="http://hotelchelseablog.com">Ed Hamilton</a> relived his days as a redneck-baiting college boozer, and <a href="http://derekhartley.com">Derek Hartley</a> told us about the trick who peed all over his closet -- stories about drunkenness and peeing go hand in hand, evidently. Or hand in something. And <a href="http://danrenzi.typepad.com">Dan Renzi</a> -- who you might remember from the Miami season of "The Real World" -- and a friend whose name I didn't catch but was adorable and brilliant re-enacted scenes from an ill-fated but apparently action-packed affair with a Heinekin-toting closeted college boy. And I drank a lot of "glug," a warm spiced winey type beverage provided by our friends at the <a href="http://bowerypoetry.com">Bowery Poetry Club</a>.</p>

<p>Lots o' pics are up at the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/wysiwygtalentshow/pool/">WYSIWYG Flickr pool</a> (if you were there and took some, please add yours!) and a few folks have written about the show on their own blogs:</p>

<p>* Derek has a rundown on <a href="http://derekhartley.com/">his site</a> but the permalink's not working -- go check it out!<br />
* Dan's thoughts are <a href="http://danrenzi.typepad.com/stuff/2006/12/when_you_were_l.html">here</a>, and you can check out more of his Austin Guy stories <a href="<br />
http://danrenzi.typepad.com/stuff/ag/index.html">here</a><br />
* Helen's rundown is <a href="http://helendamnation.blogspot.com/2006/12/wyg-out.html">here</a><br />
* Ed's story, "Goddamn Watermelon," can be read <a href="http://www.eclectica.org/v1n10/hamilton.html">here</a><br />
* Joe's rundown is <a href="http://joemygod.blogspot.com/2006/12/helenyes-kiki-no.html">here</a><br />
* Curly McDimple's is <a href="http://www.curlymcdimple.com/2006/12/mmm-cirrhosis.html">here</a><br />
* Jon W. Collins's is <a href="http://jonwcollins.livejournal.com/253605.html">here</a><br />
* Dashiell mentions us <a href="http://www.precogs.net/2006/12/i-dont-want-to-go-to-chelsea.html">here</a><br />
* Jane mentions us <a href="http://plasticbraintrain.blogspot.com/2006/12/my-date-with-operator.html">here</a></p>

<p>As always, if I missed anyone, do pipe up and we'll send you some linky love!</p>

<p>Don't know if any of them will end up posting about the show, but several other bloggers were spotted in the audience, including <a href="http://www.trochaeus.com/blogs/interea/">Aaron</a>, <a href="http://velleitynyc.blogspot.com/">Tom</a>, <a href="http://usenderoy.blogspot.com/">David</a>, and our dear friend <a href="http://www.everythingbut.org/">Marky Mark</a>, who is half the team of the newly-launched music blog <a href="http://www.stereoscope.fm/">Stereoscope</a>.</p>

<p>And then we all staggered off into the night. Here's hoping nobody got arrested for public urination!</p>]]>

<p>Alas, Heather Ann Snodgrass (<a href="http://fauxy.net">fauxy.net</a>) is not feeling totally up to snuff today so she probably won't be able to make it. Feel better, Heather! So we have an addition to the lineup: comedian, all-around mensch, and Dude with Pretty Hair Dan Allen of <a href="http://taoofdan.com">Tao of Dan</a>. Also, our very own WYSIWYG producer and co-creator Andy Horwitz of <a href="http://andyschest.com">Andy's Chest</a> has a short new piece he's going to perform. And an as-yet-unnamed special guest star might be showing up as well. So the show should be just dandy; it may be a bit of a mishmash as far as the theme goes but it'll be a full lineup and mucho fun! Hope you can join us!</p>

<p>In other 'WYGger news... </p>

<p>This just in from <a href="http://jessydelfino.blogspot.com">Jessica Delfino</a>:<br />
I'm in a play every Friday in Brooklyn which got a Voice Choice in the Village Voice. It's a musical! AND on Wednesday, I'm in an erotic reading series - COMIC SEX NIGHT, for which I've prepared something dastardly and very special. All the dirty details are below...<br />
     <br />
     "Jessica Delfino Is Sorry To Disturb You'<br />
     Tuesday Nights In November<br />
     RIFIFI / Cinema Classics - (Nov. 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th)<br />
     332 E. 11th St. (1st / 2nd Aves), NYC<br />
     10 PM / $5<br />
     <br />
This show is an open "apology" for all of Jessica's dark, sometimes disturbing sense of humor. Described as "A cross between Redd Foxx and Jewel" by The Onion and called, "The Lower East Side's folkie queen of obscene" by The Village Voice, Jessica Delfino's style of comedy has offended, irritated, annoyed, bugged, boggled and even pissed off at least one person of every race, color and creed. So, Jessica decided it's high time she set things right with the world. Showing examples of her offenses, this show will feature her dirtiest ditties, her most vulgar stand-up and her most outrageous short films, as well as some surprises, all of which she will attempt to atone for. (Or not.) Come prepared to get all up in a tizzy.</p>

<p>This week: With Mike Amato, Moonshine Shorey, Jarret Berenstein, Mike "I", Margaret Champaigne, Dan Fishback, Geoff Haggerty, Daniel Michael<br />
     <br />
AND EVERY FRIDAY: <br />
     <br />
LITTLE BUILDING<br />
A very funny musical by Nick Jones, brain-star behind Jollyship The Whiz-Bang. It's about a building that falls in love with a man. I play a gypsy airport. Every Friday in November at Galapagos (two shows left!) at Galapagos (back room), 70 N. 6th St., $12 or $10 through <a href="http://www.smarttix.com">www.smarttix.com</a>.<br />
